La Luz Property is a family-owned company, started in 2000. 'We' are David Burgess, Jeannie Lumb and daughter Nicki Lumb together with a small team of people who work with us in overseas.
'La Luz' began following an invitation from a developer we'd purchased a house with. Previously we'd sold property in France and now the beautiful Costa de la Luz beckoned. A new company, a new business - we could start off exactly as we wished, bringing our own values and approach to how things should be done. We decided early on that we'd sell only those properties we'd be happy to buy. Following this philosophy means that we are totally independent and are not tied in to any one developer or company. We are free to search for the best properties at the best prices.
Research and evaluation of both the property markets and individual properties form a large part of our work - this means all the projects we offer for sale have been thoroughly appraised by us for security of purchase, great value for money - and of course excellent location and re-sale potential.
We each have over 20 years experience in buying and selling international property and we learn more each day - mostly from our customers, who keep us on our toes. Often our 'internet- savvy' buyers know so much about a project before they come to us, that we really do need to be on the ball - which is good for us!
Our comitment is to provide a clear, accountable and transparent search and buying process. Excellent customer service, together with a first rate property portfolio are what we pride ourselves on. From Probation Officer via University Lecturer to International Property Sales - in just 25 years! An unusual and varied career path, but I've enjoyed all the different challenges and have learned so much in every new job.
Since we first started selling property 15 years ago, we've tried to build our business on the principles we value ourselves - openess, honesty, a personalised service, knowledgeablilty - and no hard sell.
At La Luz Property we like being known as approachable, friendly people who give an excellent professional service to all of our customers. I find that if we work hard to source really good properties and we help people choose the best possible property for them, it's winning combination. That makes it a great job and one I really enjoy.
It's been a steep and interesting learning curve being involved with AIPP from the beginning. I am fortunate enough to be a member of the current Board of the Association, so can keep up to date with all the organisation's work and thinking - and hopefully contribute to it's development. Progress has been fast so far and we now have a professional association that gives consumers real confidence in buying from companies who are members.
Family and friends are what give me perspective in what is a fantastic, but sometimes manic business world - they soon bring me down to earth. If I need time to think I don my swim suit and head for France...............

After a first career in the Probation Service I enjoy the challenge of being involved in my own business - and building relationships with customers, developers and partner agents instead of criminals! I have always been interested in property and over the years have personally bought and sold property in Greece, France and Spain.
The international property business does not consistently enjoy the best of reputations. As an individual business, we aim to work in an ethical manner. From the outset, we have been involved with the Association of International Property Professionals. On an individual basis, I aim to be as straightforward as possible, answer questions honestly and ensure that our customers have all the information they want and need for their property purchase.
In my spare time I enjoy music (a bit of an ageing hippy), and walking our dog. I am also making the most of the resurgence of Welsh rugby!!

Nicki Lumb, BA (Hons) London
I've been with La Luz Property since it began and have enjoyed each year here! Previously I worked in PR and Marketing roles in both public and private sector organisations for ten years. At La Luz I look after everything marketing-related, including our website.
My job involves liaising with lots of different people - including customers, design and marketing agencies, printers, journalists and developers. It's a very varied role in which no two days are the same! A highlight of this is getting to see new projects coming through and charting their progress.
On an international theme, once upon a time I was lucky enough to compile the very first Media Guide to the former Soviet Union - which was interesting and very challenging! My degree is in French and Russian and I love learning new languages.
Growing up surrounded by 'property talk' means that I love it too - and hopefully will be able to pass this on to my daughter.
