The £30 million development will include a 45-bedroom hotel featuring a state-of-the-art spa and will be a  sister hotel to the Skelwith Group’s £100 million Flaxby Country Resort. Not only will Raithwaite Hall bring a fantastic facility to the area, it will offer high-level benefits for investors, with a guaranteed minimum rental return being just one example.

A fine dining restaurant and luxury bar will also be included, as well as a conference and function area.  The 6,000 sq ft spa will feature the latest treatments and technology, making it one of the most impressive in the North of England.  Set in more than 80 acres, the landscaped grounds include various gardens, lakes and bridges, giving the estate a truly majestic feel. We can confirm that work has started on site, and is being carried out by Wates Construction.

The hotel will be managed by the West Paces Hotel Group who run a small number of 5 & 6 star exclusive hotels worldwide, Raithwaite Hall will be their first UK hotel.

Location

North Yorkshire

North Yorkshire is England's largest county, encompassing different districts, each with its own distinct,  natural beauty and charm. To the west of the county lie the Yorkshire Dales and Pennine hills, displaying a patchwork of fields and dry-stone walls. The countryside is breathtaking with many natural features. To the east are the North Yorkshire Moors, another area of outstanding natural beauty, both the Dales and the Moors are National Parks. At the eastern edge of the county is the coast, with spectacular cliffs and sweeping sands.

Whitby

Whitby's skyline is dominated by the ruins of St. Hilda's Abbey, high on Whitby's East Cliff. Spreading below Whitby, a maze of alleyways and narrow streets run down to the busy quayside. From the old town of Whitby, 199 steps lead up to the parish church of St. Mary, whose churchyard on Whitby's East Cliff gave Bram Stoker the inspiration to write his world famous book, Dracula.  Whitby has produced its own famous sons.

Among these are Captain James Cook, the 18th century explorer and voyager who sailed in the Bark Endeavour from Whitby,  and pioneer photographer, Frank Meadow Sutcliffe.  Having a unique old world charm, for centuries Whitby has provided a safe haven for shipping and fishing fleets. Whitby was once the main whaling port for the North of England.
